God’s Love is An Eternal Joy
Today’s reading: Psalm 19:1-6
Who knew that the sun could be a good role model for a husband?
“In the heavens he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom from his wedding canopy, and like a strong man runs its course with joy.”
Seeing that in today’s reading reminds me of my own wedding day, the strength and joy I felt as my wife and I began our life together. Our “honey moon” was in a rental truck loaded with Cheryl’s belongings that we moved across the country to the home I’d set up for us months before in Washington D.C. It was a joyful trip. (Even with the addition of Cheryl’s best friend Mary, an unusual companion for a honeymoon, we all admitted, but her presence was a blessing nevertheless. Extra help when moving is always wonderful! And besides, Cheryl’s car was not equipped to drive itself.) The course we’d set upon is still my great joy to run.
It’s important to return to those memories regularly, even daily as the sun. So I think I’ll do that today by sharing this favorite picture of mine. I took it a few years after our wedding. I love the way the sun’s light shines triumphantly upon my precious Cheryl, proudly gesturing to her beauty.
Just as a husband should! And as I pray I can do every day with my life’s own light.
As I ponder the beauty of this glorious scene, there is no other way I can run the course God has set for me today than with utter joy.
Thanks be to God for His eternal light of love. May it always shine joyously through all that I do.
