All Talent is Good
Today’s reading: Romans 12: 3-8
As a writer, I especially love today’s reading. Artists, musicians, pastors and others whose talents are often compensated poorly should find comfort in it as well. As should garbage collectors, bus drivers and even burger flippers.
It is a glorious thing to know that, though society often fails to appreciate my calling, God needs it as much as any other. It never fails to make me smile as I drive down Ocean Drive here in Corpus Christi that, in God’s eyes, I am as important as that surgeon whose mansion I admire so much.
Thanks be to God for all of my talents. May I always find the courage to use them wisely for God’s grand purposes — even when the world discourage me.
